The US Floating Sailboat Show – Annapolis Maryland

I had spoken to Carolyn Suess from Sailing Magazine before the show and because she is a long time show veteran asked her what to expect weather wise. She said bring rain gear, warm clothes and sun protection. And she was right, all in all the weather was pretty good but Saturday was in the 80’s F. and by Monday it was getting pretty chilly. But the rain fell only at night.

This was the first time Whitehall had exhibited at this show which is the largest floating sailboat show in N.A. Thousands of people saw our boats up close for the first time and many of our owners and friends stopped by for a visit including Jim Westgate, Jim Hogarty, Shebba Hanyi- from ‘Raid Finland’, Bob Tamagry and the Robinsons, Meg and Jody who rowed over in their beautiful navy blue Whitehall 17 double slide seat model. They keep it at the yacht club that’s right next door. I took a few shots of them ‘cruising’ the show.

And a very special thank you to the new owners who purchased boats at the show or since. I can hardy wait to hear how you are enjoying yourselves with your new life changing boats.

For years we have been lucky enough to utilize only our website and print advertising to market our boats worldwide but now we feel that more can be done by getting out there meeting people and showing our “World’s Finest Rowing Boats” to you all first hand. And thanks for coming by our display….

The Westcoast 11’6” really caught a lot of eyes with it’s tanbark sail and jib.



Here’s a nice sized sailboat but I doubt a couple of Solo 14s would fit into that transom stowage compartment, too bad.



Meg and Jody are looking hale and hearty after a few months of getting out for early morning rows on Annapolis Bay.

Jody and Meg told me they have met some big water during their forays around Annapolis harbor and love the way their boat cleaves right through the nasty stuff, stays dry and under full control. Here they are showing their great rowing form once more.
