Whitehall Newsletter December 2011 By Harold Aune

All of us at Whitehall Rowing & Sail send you the best of wishes for the holiday season.

We're looking forward to 2012 with excitement because we know the sport of slide seat rowing classic Whitehalls will be growing in leaps and bounds. And we have got something new that speaks to the other part of our nature...sailing...and all the fun that comes from harnessing the wind.

Whitehall Spirit Rowing Club Opening in Marina del Rey.

Open water slide seat rowing is coming to Los Angeles very soon. The first WSRC of Marina del Rey is currently under construction and will be installed by the end of January in a prime location in the heart of Southern California's largest Marina.

The new club, like the WSRC of Victoria, features a large fleet of Whitehall Spirit Solo 14's and Tango 17's. The Marina del Rey was originally built back is 1966 and is regarded as LA County's most popular attraction. There are around 5200 motor and sailing yachts and other smaller craft docked in the marina complex and soon they will be joined by some elegant Whitehall Spirit rowing boats.

What Marie Hutchinson and I really like about the club franchises is they are great example of what she has termed "Collaborative Economics" and is all about convenience, affordability, and quality time. Adventure, fitness, health benefits and stress relief make this opportunity a life changer for many people from owners to club members.

The photo above shows the future location for the WSRC club docks in Marina del Rey. The club docks are located right next to Mothers Beach, a perfect location for novices to learn the slide seat rowing stroke and boat handling skills to qualify as a club member. All are required to take this training before becoming a member. Members simply book their boats online using their personal passwords. Then it's only a matter of showing up and going for a delightful row. Marina del Rey is a paradise of boats of all types and the water inside the marina offers miles of rowing with the option of venturing out into the Pacific itself.

The WSRC of Marina del Rey will be open for rowing in late January For more information email info@whitehallrow.com or call 250 361 2621 We would love to talk to you and can line you up to become a member of this exciting new club. There is information regarding the WSRC franchise business at WSRCfranchise.com

New! A Sailing Conversion kit for the Solo 14 and Tango 17.

Over the past year Colin Rolls and myself spent many hours working out the details involved in designing and building a conversion kit that converts the thermoformed Solo 14 and the Tango 17 into a proper small sailboat. We wanted a sail conversion kit that enabled these boats to switch from excellent rowing boats to nicely performing sailboats. It must convert quickly, into either mode in only minutes. Simple, foolproof, attractive and fun to sail. And the entire rig had to fold up and fit right into the boat and not interfere with the rowing. The complete details are online at Solo 14 Sailing Kit and Tango 17 Sailing Kit

Here are some photos of the boats in action and there are more online... This would make a nice gift for yourself and we are offering a special introductory price for orders placed this year. See Details online
