Jody and Meg Robinson had contemplated purchasing a Whitehall Spirit® 17 for several years. After meeting with long time Whitehall rower Jim Luke late this spring they went ahead and got their boat.
I’ve spoken to them by phone a few times and the vibrant joy they get from tooling their double slide seat 17 around Annapolis Harbor is evident in our conversations and also in the great slideshow they forwarded by email recently.
“We love rowing our Whitehall and just completed five consecutive days of six to eight miles in the early morning. We will either get fit or go to Davey Jones' locker trying.
Here are some pictures of us rowing in Annapolis harbor. The boat is definitely in a high visibility environment.” Jody & Meg

Whitehall is coming to the Annapolis Sailboat Show
In fact Jody and Meg were the final inspiration for us to exhibit boats at the Annapolis Sailboat Show next month. We’ve been hearing from many of our eastern US owners and customers that this show is the best possible show in which we could exhibit. We’ve been dreaming of getting out east for this show, and finally we are making it happen this October 8 through 12.

See us in Booth # 79B near the main entrance to the show. We’ll have five different classic models with their gleaming fiberglass hulls and sumptuous teak woodwork, and several of the new Whitehall Spirit® Solo 14 thermoformed slide seat rowing models.
We have an enticing advance show special offer for those who’d like to pre-order and take delivery at the show. Timing is everything they say and your advance order will save you a lot. Call us to go over the details.
It’s the show’s 40th Anniversary too. We’re excited and hope to see you there. Please pass the word on to anyone you know who might be interested in coming.
Row for Health, Row for Fun, Row for Fitness
In the February 2008 Newsletter it was mentioned in that we were on a mission to save lives and improve peoples health. And it’s working out. We hear almost weekly from owners from all over the world. Most of us here at Whitehall get out rowing regularly and we all agree that it helps us both mentally and physically. Check out the row we did on Labor Day weekend during the Classic Boat festival here in Victoria
But first here’s a note and picture from rower Norm Holm who has experienced what a difference rowing can make.
I took delivery of my Solo 14 rowing boat at the end of the first week of May. Other than three weeks of work travel and three days of bad weather I have been on the water every morning. I am a 63 year old that was 30 pounds over weight with high blood pressure. I have had a very active life but for the past six years due to personal and work issues I have not done any consistent exercise.
During this past 2 and one half months I have lost 17 pounds and dropped my blood pressure by 25 points. I started rowing only for a 1/2 hour and I am now up to 1.5 hours. Longest distance is 7 miles, averaging 4.5 miles an hour with a top speed of 6 mph.
My Doctor could hardly believe my health improvement and is really pleased about my new sport.
Thanks to you all at Whitehall
Norm Holm

Classic Whitehalls at Classic Boat Festival in Victoria
A group of us headed out in a small fleet of Whitehalls and rowed over to visit the Annual Victoria Classic Boat Show on Labor Day weekend. We rendezvoused at the Canoe Club Docks in the upper Harbor and then cruised downtown to visit the show located right in front of the Empress Hotel and across from the Parliament Buildings. We were pleasantly surprised to meet up with a few other Whitehall owners including Dianne Roberts from across the water in Port Townsend rowing her Solo 14 “Mussel”. I love the name.
