 We fondly refer to the sailing model of the Westcoast 11’6” row boat as “The Adult Dinghy” because there’s room for one large adult in the aft area between the seats and two more with a picnic basket forward of the mid-seat either side of the centerboard well. Why should kids have all the fun?
The Westcoast row boat is rigged with a standing lug sail with a 56 square foot sail. It features a teak kick-up rudder and pivoting bronze centerboard. A removable bowsprit and jib is also available.
This row boat handles and performs superbly under sail in both light and high winds. The hull shape forward produces a lift effect when gunnel down, hard on the wind. This makes it harder to drive the gunnel under and keeps the interior dry. Off the wind the Westcoast just scoots along and is a joy to be aboard.
The sailing model is also available with an optional slide seat unit which adds the ability to use the boat for getting a full body workout doing slide seat sculling.
